Enel Green Power Invests in 519 MW of Solar in Huelva

Enel Green Power Spain (EGPE) has acquired a 519 MW portfolio of solar projects from Spanish developer Arena Power in Huelva, southern Spain. The eleven photovoltaic projects, located across six municipalities, are scheduled to begin construction in 2022 and start operations in 2024. With an investment of approximately €350 million, the projects will generate clean electricity for around 305,000 households and help avoid over 515,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. All the energy will be transmitted through a single line connected to the Palos substation, serving Huelva’s major industrial cluster.

The initiative will create 1,250 jobs during construction and 26 for ongoing operations. The new capacity may also support EGPE’s future green hydrogen production. This deal aligns with EGPE’s strategic plan to expand its renewable energy presence in Spain, where it already manages 7,800 MW. Arena Power, with a pipeline of 1 GW, will continue supporting the development until projects are ready to build.
